Jersey now streaming on Netflix

After winning applause from the audience for its inspirational and heart-warming story of a cricketer who made a comeback to the Indian cricket team ten years after he quit the sport, sports drama Jersey is now streaming on Netflix

Nearly one month after its release in the theatres   Jersey is now streaming on Netflix from May 20.

Written and directed by Gowtam Tinnannuri, Jersey is the story of Arjun Raichand, a thirty six year old cricketer who stopped his cricketing career ten years ago and is  now aiming to play for Indian team.

A remake of Gowtam Tinnannuri's 2019 Telugu film of the same title, Jersey stars Shahid Kapoor as Arjun Raichand while Mrinal Thakur features as his wife .

The film, which has been produced by Allu Aravind,  Aman Gill, Dil Raju and Suryadevara, also features Shahid Kapoor's father  Pankaj Kapur in a key role.

Jersey, which released in theatres on April 14, won appreciation from critics and audiences for its inspirational drama and good performances by the cast.


Jersey marks Shahid Kapoor's return to the big screen after a long gap.  He was last seen in the film Kabir Singh,  released in 2019.

The film has witnessed several postponements due to Covid.

Shahid Kapoor said that he chose this film for its extremely strong story with an extremely strong script and a new fresh character.

'The reason I chose this film is that it is an extremely strong story with an extremely strong script and a new fresh character. That for me is the right thing to do,'he said.

This is the second remake done by Shahid after Kabir Singh,  which was also the remake of a Telugu film.
