Punjabi film Saunkan Saunkne rocks the box office, earns Rs 2.3 cr on its opening day

Punjabi film Saunkan Saunkne, a comedy about happenings when a person marries his wife's sister after failing to have a child for six years of marriage, is rocking the box office in India with earnings of Rs 2.3 cr on its opening day.
Saunkan Saunkne, which released on limited cinema screens on May 13, drew huge crowds at cinema halls in Punjab.
Infact,the film, which stars Ammy Virk, Sargun Mehta and Nimrat Khaira in lead roles, earned Rs 1.8 cr from Punjab alone on its opening day. It has become the Punjabi film with the highest opening in Punjab post the pandemic, surpassing the earnings of Qismat 1 and Qismat 2.

The huge opening taken by the film is a morale booster for the Punjabi film industry .
With heavy crowds thronging to the theatres for Saunkan Saunkne, the film is set for a record breaking opening weekend.
Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron, Saunkan Saunkne is the story of a couple who failed to have a child despite more than 6 years of their marriage.
Having lost hope for a child, the man, on insistence of his wife, marries her sister. Shortly small squabbles between the two wives lead to comic situations.
Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron, the film, made under the banner of Naad SStudios, Dreamiyata Pvt. Ltd and JR Production House, stars Ammy Virk, Sargun Mehta and Nimrat Khaira in lead roles.
One of the most awaited films of the year, Saunkan Saunkne has generated tremendous buzz among cinegoers ahead of its release due to its posters and trailer.
The film was screened to house full boards across Punjab on its opening day.
Makers of the film recently released its songs and its power packed trailer.
Talking about the film, Ammy Virk said,'we have worked very hard in making this film. Along with the audience, we too have been waiting a long time for the release of the film. Hopefully, the audience liked the movie twice as much as we worked hard and waited. '
Actress Sargun Mehta, who plays one of the female leads of the film, said that she is excited to share the screen space again with Ammy Virk.
"I am very excited to share the screen with Ammy once again,'she said.
Sargun Mehta further said that she had a lot of fun while working with Nimrat Khaira.
Sargun expressed the hope that the audience will love Saunkan Saunkne since they are bringing something fresh and different this time too.
Actress Nimrat Khaira said that the film 'Saunkan Saunkne' is very close to her heart.
Nimrat said that since the Malwa dialect is her own dialect, she got a different kind of satisfaction in playing this role.
'The film will always be close to her heart. Working with the entire team of 'Saunkan Saunkne' was like a dream come true,'she said.

The story of the film has been written by Amberdeep Singh and it has been directed by Amarjit Singh Saron.
