Sculpture Park provides glimpse of modern and contemporary art and culture

In a step towards developing Bikaner House as a cultural hub in Delhi,  a sculpture park built in its premises was on Sunday inaugurated by Rajasthan's Chief Secretary Usha Sharma.

The Sculpture Park, which provides a glimpse of modern and contemporary art works steeped in traditional art and culture, was inaugurated  by Ms Sharma in the presence of a host of dignitaries. These included secretaries of various departments of the Government of India , ambassadors of several countries, renowned artists , celebrities associated with the art world and officials and employees of various departments of the Government of Rajasthan,

Speaking on the occasion,  Ms Usha Sharma said that the  Sculpture park, foundation  of  which was laid during the India Art Fair, heralds the beginning of a unique initiative  of 'Bikaner House Dialogues on issues related to art, literature, culture and heritag

''Launch of the Sculpture Park at Bikaner House, which  also heralds the beginning of a unique initiative  of 'Bikaner House Dialogues on issues related to art, literature, culture and heritage with support from eminent personalities, is a unique  initiative. It will not just help in raising issues related to these subjects but also enable its detailed evaluation, 'she said.

She said that while on one hand contemporary art is being showcases by young artists through such events, on the other hand senior artists get a chance to recognize architecture and stay connected with their roots through the  Sculpture Park.

Congratulating all the 'gallerists' and 'artists' showcasing  their  works at the sculpture  park and the entire team of Bikaner House , Mrs. Sharma said,''I hope that in line  with the priority of the Rajasthan government, they would  lead no stone  unturned in preserving  and enhancing the ancient heritage and continue to take new initiatives .

Speaking on this occasion, State's Additional Chief Secretary and Chief Resident Commissioner in Delhi,  Shubhra Singh said that internationally renowned sculptors have participated in this sculpture park and have contributed extensively to make this park a success

Speaking  on the occasion,  Resident Commissioner Dheeraj Srivastava said that under the aegis of 'India Art Fair' and Bikaner House, large scale participation of the young generation is being ensured and this is also determining the future direction of art literature.

Mr. Dheeraj said that this sculpture park will bring National  and international  fame to Rajasthani art, culture and heritage .

' In the first edition of this sculpture park, the artworks/sculptures of renowned and emerging artists of the country and the world have been displayed. This is the first sculpture park of its kind in the capital, which will provide an appropriate  platform for the best and emerging artists of the art world to display their artwork.

This sculpture park will serve as  a milestone in providing a platform to modern and contemporary art work.

Among the art works showcased at the  Sculpture park are “Monk” by Mr. Akhil Chand Das, “Banaras Ghat” by Mr. Tapas Vishwas, “The Trinity” by Mr. Satish Gujral, Mr. K.S. Radhakrishnan's 'Air Bound Maya on the Move',  Tutu Patnaik's 'Tree',  Ghananjay Singh's 'Faces-2', Ram Kumar Manna's 'Ganesh',  Neeraj Gupta's 'Between Heaven and Earth',  'Three Girls' by Tapasa Biswas, 'Saraswati' by Ms. Seema Kohli and '12.40 P.M.' by Mr. Sudip Roy.
