Tamil and Telugu film actress Pallak Lalwani has been signed in play the female lead in Hansal Mehta's Faraaz, a film based on the Holey Artisan cafe attack that shook Bangladesh in July 2016.

Pallak will be making her debut in Bollywood with Faraaz,  which features Paresh Rawal's son Aditya Rawal and Shashi Kapoor's grandson Zahaan Kapoor in lead roles.

Palak will be seen as one of the lead characters in Hansal Mehta's Faraaz, a joint production by filmmaker Anubhav Sinha's Benaras Mediaworks, T-Series along with Mahana Films' Sahil Saigal, Sakshi Bhatt and Mazahir Mandasaurwala.

An action thriller helmed by Hansal Mehta,  Faraaz  is based on the Holey Artisan cafe attack that shook Bangladesh in July 2016.

Pallak was chosen for the role after an audition.

"I have been auditioning for a while with MCC (Mukesh Chhabra Casting). I was actually travelling when I got a call for this project.  I had to shoot my audition clip outdoors with my friends who gave me cues and helped me record a self-test. Within a week's time I got  a call and was locked in for the part,''Pallak said.

The actress,  who is the daughter of noted television actor Jiten Lallwani, says that working with Hansal Mehta has been a learning experience for her.

"It was an amazing experience working with Hansal Sir, and I'm grateful to have commenced my journey in this industry with him. I absolutely loved being on sets, it felt like home. Hansal Sir gave us all a bit of freedom to explore our characters in our own unique manner. Before we were on sets, we had gruelling workshops and sessions that went on for months. Working on the project has been an amazing and fruitful learning experience for me and I sincerely hope I'm a part of many other projects with him in the future,'Pallak said.

Faraaz marks the Bollywood debut of Shashi Kapoor's grandson Zahaan Kapoor.
With the film, Aditya Rawal  gets his big break  after his debut in the film Bamfaad, released last year.

While Zahan Kapoor is the son of Kunal Kapoor and Sheena Sippy, the daughter of filmmaker Ramesh Sippy, and the Great Grandson of the late Prithviraj Kapoor,  Aditya Rawal is the son of Paresh Rawal and Swaroop Sampat.

Hansal Mehta and Anubhav Sinha had announced the film last month.

Pallak lalwani is a well known face in the Telugu and Tamil film industry.
She made her acting debut with the Telugu film Abbayitho Ammayi with Naga Shourya and her  Tamil debut in Baba Bhaskar's Kuppathu Raja .

In 2018, Palak Lalwani featured in a music video Dil Zaffran along with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, composed by Ravi Shankar and directed by Kamal Chandra.
