Rashmi Rocket to have a direct OTT release, to premiere on Zee5 on October 15

With the continuing uncertainty on reopening of theatres in Maharashtra amid the threat of Delta variant of covid and looming threat of third wave, an increasing number of films are skipping a theatrical release and going for a direct release on OTT.
After Shershah on Amazon Prime Video and Bhuj The Pride of India and Bhoot Police on Disney Hotstar, the much awaited sports biopic Rashmi Rocket, featuring Tapsee Pannu in the lead role, will skip a theatrical release and have a release on Zee5 streaming platform.

Rashmi Rocket, Directed by Akarsh Khurana and produced by RSVP films of Ronnie Screwvala and Mango People India, features Tapsee Pannu as the athlete Rashmi.
Announcing the release of the film on Zee5, Tapsee said ,चुनौतियों भरी race शुरू हो चुकी है और अब रावण दहन पे ही आके रुकेगी । बहुत कुछ नष्ट करना है रश्मि को इस साल ।(the race full of challenges has begun and will only end with Ravan Dahan. Rashmi has to destroy a lot if things thus year). Get ready to run with Rashmi in this race on and off the track. She will need you in this one #RashmiRocket ready to take off on 15th October 2021 only on @zee5.'
Tapsee also shared the first look poster of the film.
The poster was also shared by Ronnie Screwvala of RSVP films.

The story and dialogues of the film have been written by Nanda Periyasamy Kanika Dhillon respectively.

Shooting for the film was held last year at various locations in Rajasthan.
Tapsee has said that she had to do rigorous training to assay her role in Rashmi Rocket. She had to hit the gym really hard.
In a social media post last year, Tapsee thanked her fitness expert Sujeet Kargutkar, sports physio Prachi Shah Arora, nutritionist Munmun Ganeriwal
and athletic coach Melwyn Crasto for being instrumental for her transformation to an athlete on reel.
Tapsee was last seen in Vinil Mathew's Haseen Dilruba, a mystery thriller featuring her alongside Vikrant Massey.
She will be soon seen in Shabaash Mithu, based on the life of Indian women's cricket team captain Mithali Raj.
She is also Shooting for her debut film production venture Blurr .
An edge of the seat thriller, Blurr is being produced by Tapsee under her production banner Outsiders Films, a banner she launched last week in collaboration with Pranjal Khandhdiya, a content creator and producer on films like ‘Super 30’, ‘Soorma’, ‘Piku’, and her upcoming film ‘Rashmi Rocket’ .
Blurr has been co written by Pawan Sony and Ajay Bahl and will be helmed by Bahl who has directed films like ‘Section 375’ and ‘BA Pass’.

Rashmi Rocket is the latest film to witness a direct OTT release amid the threat of the Delta variant of covid and looming threat of third wave, which have led the Maharashtra government to keep the cinema halls in the state closed.
Closure of cinema halls in Maharashtra have impacted earnings of Bollywood films Bell Bottom and Chehre and the multilingual film Thalaivii .
Amid the uncertainty, makers of several upcoming films have either postponed their release to a more opportune period or are releasing their films directly on OTT.
Recent months have seen release of films like Shershah, Bhuj The Pride of India, Toofan and Bhoot Police on various digital platforms.
While Shershah was released on Amazon Prime Video, Bhuj The Pride of India and Bhoot Police were released on Disney Hotstar. Toofan was released on Amazon Prime Video.
