Blessed to be part of a show that resonates in present times; Additi Gupta

At a time when a majority of television shows are reinforcing stereotypes regarding women in society,  Dhadkan Zindagii Kii stands out with its strong message against gender discrimination in society and workplace.

The focus of attention in the medical drama,  which deals with issue of  discrimination against in society and workplace , is actress Additi Gupta as the protagonist Deepika Sinha, who fights discrimination in society and at the  workplace. 

Being telecast on Sony entertainment television from Monday to Friday at 10 30 pm,  Dhadkan; Zindaggii Kii tells the story of a woman challenging patriarchy in society and workplace to pursue her career goals.



Actress Additi Gupta says she is blessed to be a part of a show that resonates in present times 




Actress Additi Gupta,  who assays the central role of Dr Deepika Sinha,  says that she is blessed to have got an opportunity to be a part of a show that resonates in present times.

'At a time when a lot of shows on television are reinforcing a stereotypical and regressive image of women in society,  Dhadkan:; Zindaggi Kii is a show which delivers a strong message to fight gender discrimination in society and at the workplace.

As an actor I feel blessed to have got an opportunity to do a show which resonates in present times,''Additi Gupta said in a chat.

The actress said that doing a show like Dhadkan; Zindaggii Kii,  which aims to start conversation in society on continuing discrimination against women at home and at the workplace, is a great opportunity for an actor.

'A large number of actors want to be a part of a show that resonates in present times, 'she said.

Additi said that unlike many shows which present a regressive and stereotypical image of women in society , Dhadkan; Zindaggii Kii comes across as realistic and closer to life.

'It is remarkable that even after so many episodes,  the show comes across as realistic and closer to life.

Additi said the show  starts conversations in society on the subject of discrimination against women at home and at the workplace.

''Playing the character of Deepika Sinha,  who challenges patriarchy at her home and workplace to pursue her dreams and goals , is a unique opportunity for me as an actor,'Additi said.

The actress, who was last seen in the television show Kaal Bhairav Rahasya on Star Bharat,  said that Dhadkan; Zindaggii Kii is unlike any show that I have done before.

The series will show Deepika struggle to sustain her position of the chief at a hospital despite being the best doctor.

Lauding the theme of the show,  Additi said, 'one of the great things about the show is that it aims to start conversation in society on continuing discrimination against women at home and at the workplace.

It is high time that we ask ourselves this question as to why women are denied their due at home and at the workplace. I am happy that shows like Dhadkan are highlighting this issue.'

Additi has earlier worked in shows like Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil, Qubool Hai, Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil and Ishqbaaz. 

The show features Rohit Purohit , who played Alexander in the period drama Porus,  in the male lead. Besides Additi Gupta and Rohit Purohit, Dhadkan; Zindaggi Kii also features Nishanth Singh , Raghav Dhir and Almaa Hussain in key roles.
