Deepika makes digital debut with Gehraiyaan;trailer promises engrossing tale of love, lies and betrayal

With covid induced theatre shutdown becoming the order of the day and leading to the digital platforms emerging as the new destination for entertainment lovers, an increasing number of bollywood actors are hopping aboard the OTT bandwagon

Joining the list of stars making a tryst with the digital screen, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone will next month make her debut on OTT with Gehraiyaan, an intriguing tale of love, lies and betrayal.

To be streamed on Amazon prime video from February 21, Gehraiyaan stars Deepika Padukone , Siddhant chaturvedi and Ananya Pandey in the  lead roles with Dhairya Karwa,  Naseeruddin Shah and Rajat Kapoor in supporting roles.

Trailer of the film,  released yesterday,  promises for viewers an intriguing tale of ĺove, lies and  betrayal.

Gehraiyaan is the story of Alisha Khanna (Deepika Padukone), a 30 year old ambitious  woman, who , finding  herself at a crossroads in life, bonds with  her sister's fiance over the ghost of  her troubled past.

Alisha finds herself at a crossroads in her life.  . Her six year long relationship has grown monotonous. Her  career seems to be hitting a lot of roadblocks. Just when she had begun to accept this reality as unchangeable, her life is changed by the arrival of her cousin, Tia (Ananya Pandey) and her fiancé, Zain (Siddhant Chaturvedi.) A meeting with Zain ignites a spark between Alisha and Zain as the two bond over a troubled past and a common wish to break from its confines.

What follows is  an intriguing tale  of  love,  lies and  betrayal as Alisha and Zain,  confront the ghost of their past .

Trailer of the film has evoked tremendous buzz on social media  with cinelovers raving over the ravishing and ultra glamorous looks of Deepika Padukone .

Gehraiyaan is  directed by Shakun Batra who also wrote the script with, Sumit Roy, Ayesha Devitre and Yash Sahai. The film has been jointly produced by Dharma Productions, Viacom18 Studios and Jouska Films.

With Gehraiyaan,  Deepika Padukone joins the list of Bollywood celebrities making their debut on the digital screen.

Past couple of years have seen actors  Abhishek Bachchan,  Saif Ali Khan,  Manoj Bajpayee,  Dimple Kapadia,  Emraan Hashmi,  Bipasha Basu and Nawazuddin Siddiqui make their foray on the digital screen.
