Drishyam2 crosses Rs 200 cr at end of fourth weekend

Continuing its meteoric run at the box office,  psychological thriller 
Drishyam 2 has crossed the milestone of Rs 200 cr at the end of the fourth weekend.

The Ajay Devgn starrer earned Rs 5 cr on its fourth Sunday,  taking its collections to Rs 203 cr in 24 days

The film, which took a rocking start at the box office,  earned Rs 103 cr in its opening week,  Rs 57 cr in its second week and Rs 31.50 cr in its third week.

Continuing its strong run at the box office,  Drishyam2 earned Rs 12 cr in its fourth weekend.

The film has now earned Rs 203 cr in 24 days.

Drishyam2 is the third Ajay Devgn film to enter the Rs 200 club, after Golmaal Again and Tanhaji.

The strong showing by Drishyam2 comes amid a poor show by New films Bhediya and An Action Hero,  released after the Ajay Devgn starrer.

Released on November 18 worldwide,  Drishyam2 earned Rs 104 cr in its opening week and crossed Rs 150 cr in 12 days.

A sequel to the 2015 psychological thriller Drishyam, Drishyam 2, directed by Abhishek Pathak,  stars Ajay Devgn, Shreya Saran,  Akshay Khanna and Tabu in key roles.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak and Krishan Kumar, Drishyam 2 is a remake of the Malayalam film of the same name which was released in February last year and was a  huge success.

The original film,  released in 2015, was a huge success and evoked praise from critics for the performances by Ajay Devgn and Tabu.

The strong opening taken by Drishyam2 at the box office has brought cheer to the film trade which has witnessed several big budget Bollywood films, barring Brahmastra,  Bhool Bhulaiya2 and The Kashmir Files, released post the pandemic failing to draw crowds at the theatres,

Past few months have witnessed big budget Bollywood films like Prithviraj,  Shamshera,  Heropanti2, Jersey, Attack, Runway 24 and Lal Singh Chaddha meet with a lukewarm response at the box office contrary to the high expectations from them.
