Shang Chi witnesses drop in its earnings on weekdays,  earns Rs 15.50 cr in its opening week

After a rocking weekend at the box office,  Shang Chi And The Legend Of Ten Rings,  the latest film in the Marvel superhero franchise,  witnessed a drop in its collections on the weekdays.

Shang Chi,  which had recorded collections of Rs 10.50 cr in its opening weekend,  saw a dip in its collections on Monday to Rs 1.50 cr, from Rs 4.25 cr on Sunday.

The subsequent weekdays saw a further drop in collections of the film .

The film has now collected approximately Rs 15.50 cr at the box office in India in its opening week .


Shang Chi earns Rs 15.50 cr in its opening week across India 



A major part of the collections of the film have come from Delhi and NCR and the South Indian markets like Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Shang Chi And The Legend Of Ten Rings had taken a rocking start at the box office with earnings of Rs 3 cr on its opening day,. The collections rose to
Rs 3.25 cr on Saturday and to Rs 4.25 cr on Sunday,  taking its earnings during the opening weekend to Rs 10.50 cr.

A less than expected box office collection of the film in its opening week is being attributed to the theatres across India operating at just 50 percent occupancy and the closure of cinema halls in Maharashtra amid the threat of the Delta variant of covid and looming threat of third wave.

Trade sources say that the film is expected to earn around Rs 25 lakh during its theatrical run in India. 

Shang Chi And The Legend Of Ten Rings has earned 101 million dollars in its opening week in US and Canada,  setting a record for collections of a film post the pandemic.

The film has earned 157 million dollars worldwide in its opening week.
