Janhit Mein Jaari has poor start, earns Rs 41 lakh on opening day

Continuing the poor run of Bollywood films at the box office in recent months,  the social drama Janhit Mein Jaari had a poor opening in India with collections of just Rs 41 lakh on its opening day.

Janhit Mein Jaari, which opened on 550 cinema screens across India,  failed to draw crowds to the theatres.

The woefully low opening of the film at the box office in India is being attributed to the lack of buzz for the film among the cinegoers.

Infact,  the film failed to draw audiences to the theatres despite prices of the ticket being priced as low as Rs 100.

The poor collections of Janhit Mein Jaari,  following close on heels of the below average earnings of Rs  55 cr by the much hyped historical venture Prithviraj in its opening week,  continues the poor run of Bollywood films released in cinemas over the past few months.

Barring Sooryavanshi,  The Kashmir Files and Bhool Bhulaiya2 ,  most Hindi films released over the past few months have taken a lukewarm start at the box office in India.

This includes much hyped films like 83, Gangubhai Kathiawadi, Attack,  Jersey, Chandigarh kare Ashiqui, Bunty Aur Babli 2, Heropanti2 and Prithviraj .

A social drama, Janhit Mein Jaari puts across a message on the necessity of condoms.

Directed by Jai Basantu Singh and written by Raaj Shandilyaa, Janhit Mein Jaari is the story of a young girl, a crusader who takes up a challenging job selling condoms in a small town in Madhya Pradesh.

  The film takes one through the journey of the challenges she faces amidst the social taboo and how she takes on the resistance from her family and the entire town.

The film features Nushratt Bhharruccha in the lead role with Vijay Raaz and Paritosh Tripathi in key roles.
