Sonali Bendre makes her OTT debut with web series Broken News

Joining the list of Bollywood stars jumping aboard the OTT bandwagon, Actress Sonali Bendre Behl is set to make her digital debut with the web series Broken News, to be streamed on Zee5 from June 10.

Directed by Vinay Waikul and produced  by Zee5 in association with BBC Studios, Broken  News, an adaptation of the British series Press, is about the ongoings in a newsroom of a television news channel.

Broken News is the story of two rival news channels- Awaaz Bharati and Josh 24x7 News. While Awaaz Bharati is an independent and ethical news channel,  Josh 24/7 News is a channel focusing on sensationalism.

Sonali Bendre plays Amina Qureshi, the editor of Awaaz Bharati news channel who believes in delivering news based knowledge facts.

Besides Sonali Bendre,  Broken News stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Shriya Pilgaonkar,  Indraneil Sengupta,  Taaruk Raina,  Aakash Khurana and Kiran Kumar in pivotal roles.

The series will be streamed in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages.

The original series was created and written by writer Mike Bartlett and is based in a print newsroom.

Sonali Bendre joins the lust of Bollywood stars making a foray on the OTT space.

Speaking about her OTT debut with Broken News,  Sonali Bendre said, 'I’m so happy to make my OTT debut with Zee5. We’ve done so much together and it feels like family. I loved the concept of this show from the get go and am so proud of how it’s turned out… Can’t wait for you all to see it.”

Sonali Bendre is the latest in list of Bollywood stars making a foray on the OTT space. 

In recent years,  actors like Saif AIi Khan,  Dimple Kapadia, Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor,  Guauahar Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone made their debut on the OTT space.
