Was initially rejected for Niloufer’s role : Wamiqa Gabbi

She has won hearts of audiences as the fun loving and free spirited Niloufer Qureshi in the period drama Jubilee,  who is looking to establish a career as an actor  during the Golden Era of Bollywood.

Amid applause for her portrayal of the vivacious and lively Niloufer Qureshi in Jubilee ,actress Wamiqa Gabbi says that she was not the initial choice of director Vikramaditya Motwane for the role.

'I was initially rejected for Niloufer’s role,''Wamiqa Gabbi said in an interaction.

In a chat with her fans on Twitter,  Wamiqa,  who has elicited praise for her performance as Niloufer in Jubilee,  said that initially,  Vikramaditya Motwane did not select her for the role but later as the filmmaker watched her reels on Instagram and found her to be a fun loving person,  he had a rethink and selected her for the role of Niloufer.

'So in the end, I finally got to do the role of Niloufer, 'Wamiqa said.

Her selection as Niloufer hasproved to be fortuitous for her career as it has won her tremendous accolades from audiences and critics.

'I feel that I was meant to do the role of Niloufer.  Doing this role has won me lot of love from audiences, 'she said.

With Jubilee,  Wamiqa,  who earlier won applause for her portrayal of Manu in the period drama Grahan, streamed on Disney Hotstar in 2021, has firmly established a niche for herself as an actor on screen.

Asked about the challenges faced by her while playing Niloufer,  actress from the Golden Era of Bollywood,  Wamiqa Gabbi said, 'I feel that every character that you do us challenges. Every character that one plays is a  different person.  In this sense, understanding the mannerisms and style of that person and enacit on scis a challenge. '

Recalling her role in Grahan,  a web series with 1984 anti Sikh riots as the backdrop,  Wamiqa said, 'playing Manu in Grahan was a beautiful experience. '

Wamiqa is happy at the praise from audiences and critics for Jubilee.  She is especially thrilled at the response that she has received for her role as Niloufer.

With love pouring in for her performance as Niloufer in Jubilee, which is streaming on Prime VideoI N , Wamiqa Gabbi has jumped from number 18 to number  three this week on IMDb's Popular Indian Celebrities Feature

After Jubilee,  Wamiqa Gabbi will be seen  in  Modern Love Chennai  on Amazon Prime Video ,  Charlie Chopra And The Mystery Of Solang Valley  on SonyLiv  and . Khufiya  on Netflix.

The new webseries Jubilee being streamed on Amazon Prime Video takes a look at the various risks taken by the pioneers of the film industry to establish a place for themselves in top ranks of the film world and in the hearts of cinelovers.
