Thalaivii is about women empowerment; Kangana Ranaut

As Thalaivi, biopic on life of legendary actress and late Tamil Naidu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa , releases in cinemas today, its lead actor Kangana Ranaut today said that that the film is about women empowerment.
Addressing reporters in the capital ahead of the release of Thalaivi, Kangana said, 'the movie is all about women empowerment. It shows that how a woman who nobody thought can be a politician , won elections three times and became Chief minister repeatedly. .'
Kangana Ranaut plays the titular role of Jayalalithaa in the multilingual film, which released in theatres in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu across the country today.
Speaking at a promotional event for the film in Delhi, Kangana said that the film serves as inspiration for women in the country by depicting late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa as a strong woman who overtook all hurdles and proved naysayers wrong by becoming the chief minister of Tamil Nadu thrice .

Kangana Ranaut said that the film also shows how the a man stood by her in her rise to the pinnacle of political field.
'It is not always important that when we defame a man then only we can showcase a woman being strong. In the movie, it is clearly seen how a man supports a woman's success and always stood by her,'she said.
Producer Vishnu Vardhan Induri was also present at the event along with Kangana.
Ahead of the release of the film, it's promos and trailer have generated tremendous buzz among cinelovers.
A series of pre release screenings of the film for members of the Telugu, Tamil and Mumbai film industry, ahead of its release, have heightened the curiosity around the film, which also features South Indian actor Arvind Swami in the role of MGR.
Those who attended the screenings of Thalaivi have described it as one of the finest biopic Madd in India which tells an engaging story on the life of Jayalalithaa .
Kangana Ranaut and Arvind Swami have come in for effusive praise for their performances as Jayalalithaa and MGR.
Members of the film industries in Mumbai and South India have heaped effusive praise for the sparkling chemistry of Arvind Swami and Kangana Ranaut in Thalaivi.
Trade experts say that Thalaivi, with its engaging story and screenplay and its excellent performances, will drive audiences back to the theatres in a big way.
'After the first wave, Master pulled in the audience. After the 2nd wave, Thalaivii will pull in the audience,'trade expert Ramesh Bala said.
Buoyed by the euphoric response to the promos and trailer of the film, which will be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu , it's makers have decided to go ahead with its Hindi version despite the reopening of theatres in Maharashtra being mired in uncertainty amid the threat of the Delta variant of covid and looming threat of third wave.
Produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shaailesh R Singh and directed by Vijay, Thalaivi stars Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut in the role of Jayalalithaa.
Thalaivi also stars South Indian actor Arvind Swami in the role of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M G Ramachandran.
A multilingual film, which has been made in Hindi as well as Tamil and Telugu,
Thalaivi will take viewers through the journey of Jayalalitha from a Tamil superstar to one of the most powerful Iron Lady in politics.
The film was earlier scheduled to release in April but was pushed due to the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
Thalaivi is the third big release, after Akshay Kumar starrer Bell Bottom and the Amitabh Bachchan Emraan Hashmi starrer Chehre , to release in theatres post the reopening of cinema halls after a prolonged closure due to the second wave of COVID-19.
The film's producer Vishnu Vardhan Induri said that Thalaivi is a film that deserves a release on the big screen.
'Jayalalithaa has always belonged to the cinema and bringing her story alive on the big screen was the only way to pay homage to this great legend and revolutionary leader,"Vishnu Vardhan Induri,'said.
