After a draught of film releases in the last couple of months due to theatre shutdown in various parts of the country due to Covid, a series of big starrers, aiming to provide wholesome entertainment to cinelovers will hit cinema screens in the months of March and April.
The release of the much awaited Sanjay Leela Bhansali film Gangubhai Kathiawadi on February 25 will be followed by several potential Bollywood blockbusters on the cinema screens in the next two months.
Scheduled for release in cinemas in the next couple of months are big starrers like Radhe Shyam, Bachchan Pandey, RRR, Jersey, Attack,The Kashmir Files and Heropanti2, making for a blockbuster season for cinema lovers.
March will witness the release of Radhe Shyam, The Kashmir Files, RRR and Bachchan Pandey.
Radhe Shyam
Releasing on March 11 will be the much awaited period romantic drama Radhe Shyam, starring Prabhas and Pooja Hegde in lead roles.
A Hindi Telugu bilingual film, Radhe Shyam stars South Indian superstar Prabhas and actress Pooja Hegde in lead roles,es.
Written and directed by Radha Krishna Kumar, Radhe Shyam has been shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi.
Produced by UV creations and T series under the banner of Gopi Krishna Movies, Radhe Shyam is a period romantic drama set in Europe in the 1970s.
The film features the love story between Prabhas and Pooja Hegde in different time zones.
The music for the Telugu version has been composed by Justin Prabhakaran while that of the Hindi version is composed by Mithoon, Amaal Malik and Manan Bhardwaj.
Release of the film saw several postponements due to Covid.
It was originally planned for a release on July 30 last year but was delayed due to COVID-19 . The film was later scheduled to release on January 14 2022, coinciding with the festival of Sankranthi but was postponed indefinitely due to the surge in the Omicron variant cases.
Besides Prabhas and Pooja Hegde, Radhe Shyam also stars Bhagyashree, Krishna Raju, Sathyaraj, Sachin Khedkar and Murali Sharma.
Planned for release in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages, Radhe Shyam is among the most awaited films of the year.
Posters teaser and songs from the film have generated tremendous buzz ahead of its release.
Shot extensively in Italy, Georgia and Hyderabad, Radhe Shyam is mounted on a mega canvas, boasts of state-of-the-art visual effects. The film will see Prabhas and Pooja Hegde in never-seen-before avatars.
Earlier this week, the makers of the film announced that megastar Amitabh Bachchan will narrate the love story of Pooja Hegde and Prabhas in the film.
Written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri, The Kashmir Files stars Mithun Chakraborty in key roles.
The Kashmir Files is a true story, based on video interviews of the first generation victims of exodus Kashmiri Pandit Community.
A remake of the Tamil film Jigarthanda, Bachchan Pandey was earlier scheduled for release on January 26, 2022 but had to be postponed due to cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
A large portion of the shooting of the film was held in Rajasthan.
March 25 will witness the release of RRR, another visual extravaganza from SS Rajamouli after his last film Baahubali.
Directed by Rajamouli , RRR , set in the backdrop of the freedom struggle, is a fictional tale of two Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, who fought against the British rulers and Nizam of Hyderabad respectively .
It features Ram Charan, Junior N T Rama Rao and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. The film also features Ajay Devgn in a pivotal role.
After Rajamouli's earlier film Baahubali, RRR also boasts of international level production values.
The film features Junior NTR as Komaram Bheem, a Gond tribal leader from Telangana who fought against the Nizam of Hyderabad for the liberation of Hyderabad State.
Ram Charan stars as Aalluri Sitarama Raju , an independence activist and a tribal leader from Andhra Pradesh involved in the Indian independence movement, who fought against the British Raj.
Alia Bhatt stars as Alluri Sitarama Raju's wife.
RRR , among the most awaited releases of the year, was earlier scheduled for release on January 7, 2022 but had to be postponed due to cases of Omicron variant of COVID-19.

April 14 will see the release of Jersey, emotional story of a former cricketer looking to make a comeback ten years after quitting the sport.
Written and directed by Gowtam Tinnannuri, Jersey is the story of Arjun Raichand, a thirty six year old cricketer who stopped his cricketing career ten years ago and is now aiming to play for Indian team.
A remake of Gowtam Tinnannuri's 2019 Telugu film of the same title, Jersey stars Shahid Kapoor as Arjun Raichand while Mrinal Thakur features as his wife .
The film, which has been produced by Allu Aravind, Aman Gill, Dil Raju and Suryadevara, also features Shahid Kapoor's father Pankaj Kapur in a key role.
The actor has said that the shooting for the film was held amid the raging Covid pandemic.
'We shot the film amid the raging pandemic. I want to compliment the cast and crew of Jersey for shooting the film in such tough conditions,'he said.

'After Kabir Singh, the remake of a South Indian film, I had not thought that I would be doing another remake. After Kabir Singh, I heard a lot of scripts. However, of all the scripts that I heard, the story of Kabir Singh stayed with me.
I saw the original film two weeks before release of Kabir Singh. I cried buckets on watching the film. Somewhere deep down it connected with me'. I felt very motivated after seeing this film. At that time I was 38 and I used to ask myself that I have done so many films but have not got the kind of success commensurate with my efforts.
However, something inside me changed after watching Jersey . The film gives you a message that one's efforts should not be determined by their circumstances. One needs to continue putting in the same effort regardless of circumstances. I felt that if audience also experience the same emotions after watching the film, maybe something good will happen with their lives. Which is why I decided to do this film,'Shahid Kapoor said .

This is the second remake done by Shahid after Kabir Singh, which was also the remake of a Telugu film.
The KGF chapter 2 will continue where KGF chapter 1 ended. The makers have increased the budget of KGF chapter 2 to match the expectations of the audeince.
