Gangubhai Kathiawadi takes a strong opening at the box office, earns Rs 23 cr in first two days

Riding on the hype around the film and the rave reviews for Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubhai Kathiawadi took a strong opening at the box office, earning approximately Rs 23 cr at the box office in its first two days, setting the stage for an opening weekend of around Rs 40 cr.
Gangubhai Kathiawadi, which took an opening of Rs 10 cr on Friday, saw a jump in its earnings to around Rs 13 cr on Saturday, taking its earnings in the first two days to Rs 23 cr(approximately).

The Alia Bhatt starrer did good business in Mumbai and Andhra Pradesh. However, the collection of the film saw a jump in Delhi and UP on its second day.
Trade experts expect the film to see further growth on Sunday. Going by the trend, Gangubhai Kathiawadi could earn approximately Rs 40 cr in its opening weekend.
The film has done well considering the fact that it is a female driven film which features Alia Bhatt as uts main lead.
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and produced by Jayantilal Gada and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Gangubhai Kathiawadi is based on the life of Gangubhai, a Madam in the red light area of Kamathipura.
The film stars Alia Bhatt in the title role with Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Indira Tiwari and Seema Pahwa in pivotal roles.
Gangubhai Kathiawadi features Ajay Devgn in an extended cameo.
