Rudra The Edge of Darkness; Ajay Devgn,Rashi Khanna highlight of this taut psychological thriller with stylish look

Crime thrillers,  murder mysteries and edge of the seat horror shows seem to have become a staple diet of digital platforms since the emergence of OTT as the ultimate destination for entertainment lovers.

The latest in the line of thrillers streaming in the digital space is Rudra The Edge of Darkness,  which is the story of a cop Rudra Veer Singh unraveling the mystery behind complex crimes . An Indian adaptation of the much acclaimed British series Luther,  Rudra The Edge of Darkness deals with efforts by DCP Rudra Veer Singh to solve complex crimes by delving into the psyche of highly intelligent criminals who subscribe to the idea of a perfect crime that leaves no trace behind which they think would obviate the possibility of their coming under the scanner of the law enforcement authorities.


Rudra The Edge of Darkness is a taut and gripping thriller with a stylish feel 





The series, set in the Hubbing metropolis of Mumbai,  shows Rudra Veer Singh investigate complex crimes often at a personal cost in an attempt to unravel the dark mysteries shrouding these crimes even as he grapples with his troubled married life.

In course of his investigation into the mysterious crimes,  he crosses paths with a genius sociopath Aliyah (Rashi Khanna) who is the prime suspect in the murder of her parents.


The screenplay of Rudra The Edge of Darkness is taut and gripping and keeps you hooked throughout its six episodes. 

Infact,  director Rajesh Mapuskar lends a westernized feel to the series with its eerie settings and  a haunting background score which taken together create an aura of  mystery to the proceedings.

Another highlight of the series are it's cinematography  which serves to heighten the element of mystery

Ajay Devgn makes a spectacular debut as the unconventional cop Rudra Veer Singh who believes in going beyond his brief to unravel the mystery behind crimes committed by intelligent criminals . His Sombre face and his shouldering eyes bring across the turmoil in the life of  Rudra Veer Singh as he strives to uncover the dark mysteries.

Rashi Khanna is a scene stealer with her brilliant act as aster criminal Aliyah,  the prime suspect in the murder of her parents.  She shows a sparking chemistry with Ajay Devgn.  Their scenes together are a highlight of the series.

Atul Kulkarni, and Ashwini Kalsekar impress in the role of Rudra’s colleagues.
Esha Deol,  however,  fails to impress in her role as Rudra’s estranged wife. Satyadeep Misra lends adequate support as the new boyfriend of Rudra’s wife.

In short, Rudra The Edge of Darkness is a taut and gripping psychological thriller with a stylish feel.  Ajay Devgn makes a spectacular digital debut while Rashi Khanna is a revelation as master criminal Aliyah
