Bholaa earns Rs 53.5 cr in opening week

Despite a strong buzz, the action drama Bholaa failed to measure up to the expectations of the film trade, with disappointing collections of Rs 53.5 cr in its opening week.

After a promising start,  wherein the Ajay Devgn starrer earned Rs 40 cr in its opening weekend,  Bholaa saw a sharp drop in collections during the week days .

After collections over Rs 12 cr on Sunday, Bholaa witnessed an over 50 per cent drop in its collections on Monday.  Collections continued to remain low in the rest of the week.

The collections of the film in its opening week are Rs 53.5 cr, much below the expectations of the film trade.

The best performance of the film have been in Delhi and NCR and Mumbai.

Performance by the film , an action thriller released to much hype,  has come as a disappointment for the film trade, which was expecting another blockbuster after Devgn's last film Drishyam2.

Directed by Ajay Devgn and jointly produced by Ajay Devgn FFilms, Reliance Entertainment, T-Series Films and Dream Warrior Pictures, Bholaa is the story of a convict who fights criminals while transporting a truck full of poisoned policemen in exchange for meeting his daughter after ten years of  imprisonment.

A remake of the Tamil film Kaithi, Bholaa, directed by Ajay Devgn and produced by Ajay Devgn films, stars Ajay Devgn in the title role.  It also stars Tabu, Deepak Dobriyal,  Sanjay Mishra , Gaurav Rao and Vineet Kumar in pivotal roles.

The film features Amala Paul, Abhishek Bachchan and Raai Laxmi in a special appearance.
