Shooting for OH My God 2 begins, Akshay Kumar to play Lord Shiva in sequel

Nearly a decade after enthralling cinelovers , OH My God is back with its sequel which will be hoping to provide more insights and a new perspective on devotion and spirituality.

The announcement of the film was made by Akshay Kumar,  who will play Lord Shiva in the sequel. 

While Oh My God featured Paresh Rawal in the lead role and Akshay Kumar as Lord Krishna,  Oh My God 2 will feature Pankaj Tripathi in the lead role with Yami Gsutam . The film will also feature Akshay Kumar in a pivotal role as Lord Shiva.

Oh My God 2 will be based on the Indian education system.

Shooting for the film,  directed by Amit Brai and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah in association with Cape Of Good Films of Akshay Kumar,  began in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh after a worship by the cast of the film at Mahakaal temple in Ujjain.

Akshay Kumar and Yami Gautam shared with fans a picture the first look poster of Oh My God 2.

Sharing the poster with fans,  Akshay Kumar said, ''Need your blessings and wishes for #OMG2, our honest and humble attempt to reflect on an important social issue. May the eternal energy of Adiyogi bless us through this journey. हर हर महादेव .'

Akshay Kumar's look as Lord Shiva in OMG2 was created by make up expert Preetisheel Singh.

On creating the look of Akshay Kumar,  the makers up expert said, 'Every new project brings along the opportunity for a new experience. An opportunity to create something new, unique and different. Creating Akshay Kumar's look in OMG2  is one such opportunity! '

The original Oh My God,  released in 2012, was directed by Umesh Shukla.

A comedy drama,  OH My God, an  official remake of the Australian film The Man Who  Sued God, was produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures ,S Spice Studios, Grazing Goat Pictures and Playtime Creations.

Storyline of the film was based on a Gujarati stage-play entitled Kanji Virudh Kanji, originally written by co-writer Saumya Joshi, with Bhavesh Mandalia as an additional co-writer.

The film featured Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar in  lead roles. It also starred Mithun Chakraborty,  Om Puri, Govind Namdeo, Poonam Jhawer, Pooja Gupta and Mahesh Manjrekar in pivotal roles.

Oh My God garnered praise for its subject and performances by Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar.

The film was remade in Telugu as Gopala Gopala in 2015 with Venkatesh and Pawan Kalyan, in Kannada with Upendra and Sudeep titled as Mukunda Murari in 2016.

The film won the award for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 60th National Film awards.
