Gadar2 continues blockbuster run at box office,earns Rs 132 cr in opening weekend


Sunny Deol starrer set to cross Rs 200 cr in the extended Independence day weekend

Continuing its blockbuster run at the box office, Gadar 2 crossed the Rs 100 cr mark at the box office in India,  earning Rs 132.4 cr in its opening weekend.

The Sunny Deol Ameesha Patel starrer,  a sequel to the 2001 superhit Gadar,  continues to draw huge crowds to the theatres on Saturday and Sunday after a meteoric opening on Friday.

After earning Rs 40 cr on its opening day on Friday,  Gadar2 saw a sharp jump in its collections on Saturday and Sunday to Rs 43 cr and Rs 50 cr respectively,  taking its earnings in the opening weekend to 132.4 cr.

Directed by Anil Sharma and written by Shaktimaan,  Gadar2,  which stars Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma in the lead roles,  has witnessed excellent business at the single screen theatres across the country while good showing at the multiplexes.

The film has recorded outstanding collections at the mass centres like Delhi, Punjab,  Bihar and Uttar Pradesh

After the super success of Gadar  in 2001, the  magic of Tara Singh single handedly taking on the Pakistani establishment has once again set the box office on fire , drawing applause at the theatres across the country.

With the craze for the film unabated, Gadar 2 seems set to cross the Rs 200 cr mark in the extended Independence day weekend in India.

The meteoric run by Gadar 2 reflects the huge draw of Sunny Deol as an action hero.


Directed by Anil Sharma and written by Shaktimaan, Gadar2 is a sequel to the 2001 film Gadar. It features Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma who reprise their roles from the original film.

After Tara Singh goes missing during a skirmish on the border in 1971 and is believed to be imprisoned in Pakistan,Tara's son Charanjeet "Jeete" Singh goes to save him, but in the  process gets imprisoned and tortured by the Pakistan soldiers.  Learning about this after reuniting with Sakeena, Tara sets out to rescue Jeete from Hamid Iqbal and his men.
