Actress Mouli Ganguly is excited to play the role of Mahasati Anusuya in Baal Shiv on &TV

'The role of Mahasati Anusuya is rewarding as well as a big responsibility.
Mythological shows are very challenging as a genre. The language the costume everything is challenging. It is never a one-person show. A lot of team efforts go into the making of the show.

And being an actor, I love challenges as it helps me to explore my acting skills. Everything is different in mythological shows, from language to body gestures to the feel of the character; a lot of homework needs to be done to get into the character's skin. It is exciting, thrilling as well as magical for me. Baal Shiv is one of its kind, making it an even better experience for both the actors and the viewers,'Mouli Ganguly said  in a chat ahead of the airing of the show on &TV  on November 23.

Talking about her character of Mahasati Anusuya in Baal Shiv, Mouli Ganguly said, 'Anusuya is the perfect balance of compassion and determination.  She is married to a very knowledgeable sage Rishi Atri, and they both admire, love and have huge respect for each other. She heads the Vedic Gurukul, where all the Gods and Dev putras study and live together. She takes care of Gurukul and its children as her own, imparts the best of knowledge, and cultivates discipline in them. Her unwavering faith and devotion to her husband have helped her earn the title of Mahasati.'

Mouli Ganguly said that she was happy at the opportunity to play a strong woman character in form of Mahasati Anusuya,

'In Indian mythology, the role of women is quite significant. There are so many stories of them personifying strong characters and playing various roles of a mentor, incomparable guardian and best friend for their children. I am lucky to play one such character on screen. As Mahasati Anusuya, I will get an opportunity to guide and impart the best knowledge to my son Baal Shiv.

Besides this, the character offers me a fantastic chance to explore and highlight the different dimensions of Anusuya's personality.  She is a loyal and devoted wife to Rishi Atri, a guiding force to Baal Shiv and her other students at Gurukul,'she said.

Mouli Ganguly said that being a part of the show is a momentous occasion for her.

'Being a part of &TV's Baal Shiv is a momentous occasion for me. This team is one of my favourites who made a sucsseful show on Lord Shiva before. It is a one of its kind shows with a captivating storyline. When I was offered the role of Mahasati Anusuya, I accepted it instantly because it's an extremely well sketched role for an actor and most importantly I love Shiva so yes there was an emotional soulful and spiritual connection.

I have lot of faith in this show and really hope this show does well. Also, the character of Anusuya is very prominent and strong, and deep inside, as an artist it’s a opportunity to get to play well defined roles  like this. I have essayed varied characters throughout my career, but this one surely stands out. This role is a reward and a big responsibility, and I am eagerly looking forward to it,'she said.

On her preparations for the character,  the actress said, 'We have a research team on board to help us understand and absorb various character nuisances more clearly and deeply. We have a fantastic creative team and director. Besides, we also have had a series of workshops to prep us in every possible way.
The expressions, body language, he proper diction, dialogue delivery, voice modulation, look test, costume trials, and more. Baal Shiv is my second mythological show, and mythology is very different from other genres. A lot of research and preparations go into bringing every character to life. No doubt, it is an enriching experience playing such an intense and pious character.'

Baal Shiv', is set to premiere on &TV starting November 23, every Monday to Friday at 8:00 pm.

While there have been several fascinating shows on Lord Shiva and his various roops, one story that has not been shown before on Indian television is the story of his Baal Roop.

Aptly positioned Mahadev Ki Undekhi Gatha, the show will depict the mythical Katha of the mother and son, Mahasati Anusuya and Baal Shiv, and their eternal bond.

Considered Infinite and the Unborn, Lord Shiva had taken many avatars, but he had never experienced childhood and mother's love. However, post his marriage with Devi Parvati, Mahadev takes the form of a child to fulfil Devi Parvati's wish and becomes the dutiful son of Mahasati Anusuya.

Produced by Zee Studios, Baal Shiv features a stellar cast including Aan Tiwari ( as Baal Shiv), Mouli Ganguly (as Mahasati Anusuya), Siddharth Arora (as Mahadev), Shivya Pathania ( as Devi Parvati), Krrip Kapur Suri (as Asur Andhak), Praneet Bhatt (as Narad Muni), Danish Akhtar Saifi (as Nandi), Dakssh Ajit Singh (as Indra), Anjita Poonia (as Indrani), Ravi Khanvilkar (as Archarya Dandpani), Pallavi Pradhan (as Maina Devi), amongst others.

Baal Shiv is the latest in the series of mythological shows on television after Devon Ke Dev Mahadev, Vignaharta Ganesh,The Legend of Hanuman and Mere Sai.
