Bollywood churned out Psychological, political & crime thrillers in 2021

In an year marked by shutdowns of cinemas due to the raging Covid pandemic , which adversely affected the box office revenues of Bollywood movies in 2021, a series of psychological , political and crime thrillers kept the viewers entertained.
The year saw several action and crime thrillers and political dramas like Nail Polish, Koi jaane na, Radhe, Haseen Dilrubba, State of Seige Temple attack, Sooryavanshi , Bob Biswas, Madam Chief minister, Lahore Confidential and Satyameva Jayate 2 keep the viewers glued with their engrossing mysteries and intriguing dramas.

Directed by Subhash Kapoor, Madam Chief minister grabbed eyeballs for its engrossing political drama and a power packed performance by Richa Chadha.
As the strong and tactical leader who manages to hold on to the seat of power amid constant attempts by her opponents to ensure her downfall, Richa Chadha impressed with her virtuoso act in the film, losely inspired by the life of Bahujan Samaj party chief Mayawati.
Saurabh Shukla also created an impact with his performance as Richa Chadha's mentor.

The month of February saw the release of Lahore Confidential, a Spy thriller about R&AW agents in Lahore investigating Pakistani terrorist group's role in activities related to terror.

Directed by Kunal Kohli, Lahore Confidential revolves around an Indian woman Ananya Srivastav (Richa Chadda), who works with RAW. In order to get away from her mundane life, she wanted an overseas assignment from the government. But she finds herself on a secret intelligence duty in Pakistan.
The film met with a lukewarm response from critics who panned the movie which they said had nothing new to offer to the audience.

The Summer of 2021 saw the release of Nail Polish, an engaging psychological drama that delved into the uncertainty of the Human mind, and Radhe, an action thriller starring superstar SalmanKhan inthelead role.

The film garnered acclaim for its performances and direction. While Manav Kaul was praised for his excellent performance as Veer Singh, Arjun Rampal got plaudits for his polished performance as Veer Singh's lawyer Sidharth Jaisingh.

May also saw the release of the big budget film Radhe, which starred Salman Khan and Disha Patani in lead roles with Randeep Hooda and Jackie Shroff featuring in pivotal roles
After several delays due to Covid, makers of the film, directed Ted by Prabhu Deva and produced by Salman Khan, decided to release it simultaneously on multiple digital platforms and on theatres.
Based on the 2017 Korean film The Outlaws, Radhe met with a mixed response at the box office. The film got negative reviews from critics, especially for the performance by Salman Khan and Disha Patani.

The highlight of the film was Tapsee who played Rani, a stylish big city girl with a mysterious aura about her, with elan. As Rani,Tapsee managed to convey a wide range of emotions, from a sense of betrayal and helplessness and resignation to a feeling of repentence to passionate love.

The month of November saw the release of the action thriller Sooryavanshi and the crime thriller Bob Biswas, which kept the viewers thoroughly entertained with their engaging action thrills and intriguing mystery.

He effectively brings out the turmoil in the life of contract killer. Clearly one of the best performances of his career.
