Action thrillers, sports dramas to hit cinema screens in April

After an action packed March which saw mass entertainers and emotional dramas like The Kashmir Files, Bachchan Pandey and RRR enthrall cinegoers, the month of April will witness the release of a host of action thrillers and sports dramas like Attack, Heropanti2, KGF2, Runway 34 and Jersey which promise wholesome entertainment for cinegoers.
A blockbuster entertainment awaits audiences as the films slated for release in April feature a host of Bollywood superstars including John Abraham, Tiger Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn and Shahid Kapoor .
Attack
April 1 will witness the release of the action thriller Attack, the story of an army veteran(John Abraham) becoming part of a governmental experiment to become a cybertronic humanoid super-soldier to combat terrorism.
Directed by Lakshya Raj Anand, Attack features Bollywood hunk John Abraham as the army soldier who decides to become a super soldier to combat terrorism.
Based on a story by John Abraham, Attack also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Rakul Preet Singh.
Attack is the story of an army soldier who volunteers to become part of a governmental experiment to become a cybertronic humanoid super-soldier developed to combat terrorism.
While John Abraham stars as Arjun Shergill, India’s first super soldier, Jacqueline Fernandez stars as his love interest. Rahul Preet Singh stars as a scientist Dr Jiya. The film also features Prakash Raj , Ratna Pathak Shah and Kiran Kumar in pivotal roles.
Attack was scheduled for release on 28 January 2022. However, it was postponed due to the surge in Omicron variant cases.

KGF2
April 14 will witness the release of KGF chapter 2, one of the most awaited films of the year.
A sequel to the 2018 film KGF Chapter 1, KGF Chapter 2 is the second installment of the two part series.
Written and directed by Prashant Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner Hombale films, KGF chapter 2 stars South Indian superstar Yash, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, Srinidhi Shetty, Raveena Tandon and Prakash Raj.
A multi lingual film, KGF Chapter 2 is being released in Kannada along with the dubbed versions of Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam .
While RG Studios and Jayanna Films are releasing the Kannada version, Excel Entertainment and AA Films are releasing the Hindi version.
The Telugu version is being released by Sri Venkateswara Creations while the Tamil version is being released by Dream Warrior Pictures
Prithviraj Productions release the Malayalam version.
KGF Chapter 2 starts from where KGF Chapter 1 left off.
After killing Garuda, Rocky, whose name strikes fear in the heart of his foes, becomes the uplifter of people struggling at the KGF by helping and fighting for them. His allies look up to Rocky as their savior. Now, he will have to face against his biggest foe Adheera and learn more about his past.
While Yash plays Rocky, Sanjay Dutt plays his nemesis Adheera. Raveena Tandon will play the Prime Minister of India.
The release of the film was postponed several times due to Covid-19.

Jersey
April 14 will also witness the release of the keenly awaited sports drama Jersey
Written and directed by Gowtam Tinnannuri, Jersey is the story of Arjun Raichand, a thirty six year old cricketer who stopped his cricketing career ten years ago and is now aiming to play for Indian team.
A remake of Gowtam Tinnannuri's 2019 Telugu film of the same title, Jersey stars Shahid Kapoor as Arjun Raichand while Mrinal Thakur features as his wife .
The film, which has been produced by Allu Aravind, Aman Gill, Dil Raju and Suryadevara, also features Shahid Kapoor's father Pankaj Kapur in a key role.
The actor has said that the shooting for the film was held amid the raging Covid pandemic.
'We shot the film amid the raging pandemic. I want to compliment the cast and crew of Jersey for shooting the film in such tough conditions,'he said.
Jersey was earlier scheduled to release in August last year but it' was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Jersey marks Shahid Kapoor's return to the big screen after a long gap. He was last seen in the film Kabir Singh, released in 2019.
The film has witnessed several postponements due to Covid.
Ahead of the release of the Jersey, it's lead actor and Bollywood heartthrob Shahid Kapoor said that it is the heart touching story of the film that led him to give a nod to the film.
'After Kabir Singh, the remake of a South Indian film, I had not thought that I would be doing another remake. After Kabir Singh, I heard a lot of scripts. However, of all the scripts that I heard, the story of Kabir Singh stayed with me.
I saw the original film two weeks before release of Kabir Singh. I cried buckets on watching the film. Somewhere deep down it connected with me'. I felt very motivated after seeing this film. At that time I was 38 and I used to ask myself that I have done so many films but have not got the kind of success commensurate with my efforts.
However, something inside me changed after watching Jersey . The film gives you a message that one's efforts should not be determined by their circumstances. One needs to continue putting in the same effort regardless of circumstances. I felt that if audience also experience the same emotions after watching the film, maybe something good will happen with their lives. Which is why I decided to do this film,'Shahid Kapoor said .
Shahid Kapoor said that he chose this film for its extremely strong story with an extremely strong script and a new fresh character.
'The reason I chose this film is that it is an extremely strong story with an extremely strong script and a new fresh character. That for me is the right thing to do,'he said.
This is the second remake done by Shahid after Kabir Singh, which was also the remake of a Telugu film.

Heropanti2
April 29 will witness the release of the romantic action thriller Heropanti2.
A sequel to the 2018 film Heropanti, Heropanti2, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Ahmed Khan, stars Tiger Shroff! Tara Sutaria and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead roles.
The trailer and promos of the film have created a lot of buzz among cinegoers.
Tiger Shroff as Babloo Ranawat and Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the menacing Laila have come across as impressive.
Heropanti2 was earlier scheduled for release on December 3. However, it got postponed due to Covid.

Runway 34
Also hitting the screens on April 29 will be the action thriller Runway 34.
Inspired by true incidents, “Runway 34” revolves around Captain Vikrant Khanna played by Ajay Devgn, a flying prodigy, whose flight takes a mysterious course after take-off from an international destination.
Directed and produced by Ajay Devgn, Runway 34 features Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan, Rakul Preet Singh, Angira Dhar and Aakanksha Singh.
The makers of the recently released motion posters of the film featuring Ajay Devggn and Amitabh Bachchan in stylish avatars.
Ajay Devgn plays a pilot in the film while Amitabh Bachchan plays an investigative officer.
Earlier titled Mayday, Runway 34 is an edge of the seat drama.
The trailer and promos of the film have created tremendous buzz among cinegoers.
