Aadha ishq,  an unconventional tale of forbidden love,  streams on Voot from May 12

After entertaining viewers with intriguing tale of a police officer confronting his demons while solving case of a missing girl in the web series London Files, Voot streaming platform is set to bring for its viewers Aadha ishq, an unconventional story of forbidden love that streams on the platform from May 12.

Starring Aamna Sharif, Gaurav Arora, Pratibha Ranta and Kunal Roy Kapur in lead roles, Aadha Ishq is a modern day romantic drama that captures a turbulent love story and delves into complex human relationships.

Directed by Nandita Mehra and produced by 24 Frames Media,  Aadha Ishq also marks the comeback to the screen by Taare Zameen Pe child prodigy Darsheel Safary.  It also stars Suchitra Pillai and Pooja Bhamrrah in supporting roles.

Set against the backdrop of Gulmarg,  Srinagar and Mussoorie,  Aadha Ishq is the story of a person who is in a romantic relationship with a mother as well as her daughter.

Actress Aamna Sharif,  who has earlier been seen in Kahiin To Hoga and Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2, says that the upcoming web series deals with complex relationships.

'Aadha Ishq deals with repercussions of entangled relationships. To portray the trials and tribulations that my character Roma goes through in the show was a challenging task. However, essaying an emotionally inclined character has been a learning experience of a lifetime for me. I’m excited for the audience to see this unusually thought-provoking tale of love, pepped up with drama and beautiful locations. Looking forward to the show,'she said.

Speaking about his character in the show, Kunal Roy Kapur said, 'my character in the show, as Roma's estranged husband, possesses a unique set of vulnerabilities. Even after his relationship with his ex-wife goes awry, he tries his level best to not let that affect his bond with their daughter, Rene. When I first read the script, I was immediately drawn into the world of Aadha Ishq, and I hope that it successfully strikes a chord with the viewers too!”

Talking about the series,  Gaurav Arora,  who assays the role of Sahir, who fails in love with the mother as well as her daughter,  said, 'Sahir’s journey in Aadha Ishq has given me an opportunity to showcase different facets as an actor. Taking up a role with so many layers is a great challenge as it helps in proving one’s mettle in terms of versatility. I am extremely excited for the audience to be able to stream the show on Voot Select soon. I’m also sure that they must’ve never witnessed a turbulent love story like this, ever before!”

Talking about her role, Pratibha Ranta, who plays the role of Roma's daughter Rene in the romantic drama, said, “Had it not been for Nandita Mehra’s extraordinary vision, this story wouldn’t have gotten conveyed this beautifully. As actors, we totally surrendered ourselves to Nandita’s storytelling, and she brought the best out of all of us, indeed! As for Rene, it was a fruitful learning experience for me to be able to showcase a diverse range of emotions through one character. Aadha Ishq is unique and unconventional in its most extraordinary form.”
