Continuing its strong run at the box office in India, the romantic comedy Jug Jugg Jeeyo earned Rs 35 cr in its opening weekend in India.

Jug Jugg Jeeyo,  which had a rocking start at the box office,  saw a jump in its collections on Saturday and Sunday to Rs 12 cr and Rs 14 cr respectively,  taking its earnings in the opening weekend to Rs 35 cr.

Riding on its emotional drama and the huge buzz due to the presence of Neetu Kapoor and Anil Kapoor,  Jug Jugg Jeeyo saw a spurt in its earnings on Sunday to Rs 14 cr, from Rs 12 cr on Saturday.

The film has done excellent business in Delhi and NCR and the metropolitan cities of Mumbai and Bangalore.

Jug Jugg Jeeyo has evoked lot of curiosity due to it being the comeback film of Neetu Kapoor, who is returning to the arclights after a long gap since her last film Besharam.

The strong run by the film at the box office has come as a breather to the film trade which has witnessed a  poor run by big starrers like Dhaakad,  Runway 34 and jersey released in cinemas in the previous months.

Barring The Kashmir Files, Bhool Bhulaiya2 and Jug Jugg Jeeyo,  most films released in cinemas in the previous months have witnessed a poor run.

Trade experts say that the film is likely to maintain its euphoric run during the week days.

Directed by Raj Mehta and produced by Hiroo Yash Johar,  Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta,  Jug Jugg Jeeyo stars Anil Kapoor,  Neetu Kapoor,  Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani in the lead roles alongside Prajakta Koli and Manish Paul.

Jug Jugg Jeeyo is the story of businessman Bheem and his wife Geeta who live in Chandigarh with their daughter Gurpreet aka Gunny.

Jug Jugg Jeeyo marks the return of Neetu Kapoor to films after a long gap since her 2013 film Besharam.
