The film follows the inspiring journey of Abhay Shukla, a boy from the small town of Bihar who dreams of becoming an IAS officer.
To realise his dream of becoming an IAS officer, Abhay Shukla comes to Delhi.
The film shows how Abhay has to encounter various hurdles during his journey of becoming an IAS officer and lifting his family from a life of poverty.
The trailer of the film, which stars Imran Zahid in the lead role of Abhay Shukla, was released by the makers at an event in Delhi earlier this week.
Speaking at the event, the film's lead actor Imran Zahid said that Ab Dilli Dur Nahin is an inspirational film that seeks to inspire the youth to go all out to fulfill their aspirations in life.
''It's not Govind Jaiswal's biopic, but inspired from his life. We were looking for a relevant subject that would give out a strong message to audience because I believe cinema is the mirror of our society.
So we wanted to create something meaningful and from there the idea of making a motivational film for today's youth came into existence which can inspire and strike a chord in one's heart,'Imran said.
The film explores the dynamic of success and failure in life through the story of its protagonist, a simple and naïve village boy from Bihar, who eventually goes on to top the IAS exam.
A noted theatre artist, Imran Zahid has worked in several plays based on popular Mahesh Bhatt films Arth, Daddy and Hamaari Adhuri Kahani.
During the making of the film, Imran Zahid met Govind Jaiswal several times to get an insight into his character and will power which helped him to realise his dream of becoming an IAS officer from his humble background.
Speaking about the film, producer Vinay Bhardwaj said, "Ab Dilli Dur Nahin is a story that has its connection deeply rooted with the masses. The struggles and perseverance of people from small towns when they arrive in bustling metros like Delhi are relatable to a wide audience and I'm sure this film will have something for everyone to connect with."
Ab Dilli Dur Nahin also stars Shruti Sodhi, Satyakam Anand and Rajiv Mishra in pivotal roles.
Shruti Sodhi, who plays the female lead in Ab Dilli Dur Nahin, assays the role of a Punjabi girl studying MBBS in Delhi.
Shruti has earlier worked in Punjabi films Happy Go Lucky, Mr and Mrs 420 and Dil Vil Pyaar Vaar.
The film has been shot in various places in Delhi and Noida. These include Mukherjee Nagar, Kamla Nagar, Rajendra Nagar and Connaught Place.
