I want to share stories of my father through my films: Vidyut Jamwal
By Rajesh Ahuja
He has established a niche for himself as an action hero in Bollywood, having featured in action oriented films like films in the Commando series and action thrillers like Force, Khuda Haafiz, Khuda Haafiz 2 Agni Pariksha and Sanak.
The name of Vidyut Jammwal, who is now creating buzz with his new film IB71, has become almost synonymous with the action genre in Bollywood.
Ahead of the release of the film, based on an incident during the 1971 War with Pakistan, Vidyut Jammwal reveals the reason behind his penchant for films based on the action genre.
Actor Vidyut Jammwal says that he wants to share stories of his father through his films |
Talking about his preference for action films, Vidyut Jammwal said,' the reason for my inclination for films in the action genre of films is that I come from an Air Force background. My father and my relatives have been serving the country in the armed forces.
I want to share their stories through my films. '
A spy thriller directed by South Indian filmmaker Sankalp Reddy, IB71 features Vidyut Jamwal as an Air Force officer, who plans to block the airspace to prevent an attack on India by Pakistan and China.
IB71 also stars Anupam kher, Niharica Raizada, Vishal Jethwa and Dalip Tahil.
IB71, which releases in cinemas on May 12, marks Vidyut Jammwal's first film as a producer.
Based on true events, IB71 is the true story of IB agent Dev Jammwal (Vidyut Jammwal) who is on a secret mission to save the nation with the help of 30 more agents.
It was an event that helped India win the 1971 war against Pakistan.
Though an action thriller, IB71 will not have Vidyut Jammwal carry out hardcore action stunts that he was seen doing in many of his previous films.
IB71 releases in theatres on May 12 |
