Poor run of Bollywood films continues: Shabaash Mithu,Hit The First Case below aver on opening day,

The  poor run of Bollywood films at the box office continues with the new releases Hit The First Case and sports biopic Shabaash Mithu having  below average collections on the opening day.

The previous week's release Khuda Haafiz Chapter II Agni Pareeksha also continued its poor run,  earning just Rs 10 cr in its opening week.

Despite the hype around Hit The First Case and Shabaash Mithu and catchy promos, the two films failed to create a splash at the box office.

While the action thriller Hit The First Case earned Rs 1.25 cr on its opening day, sports drama Shabaash Mithu collected just Rs 40 lakh on its opening day.

The bulk of the collections of Hit The First Case and Shabaash Mithu came from multiplex chains like PVR.

Meanwhile, the previous week's release Khuda Haafiz Chapter II Agni Pareeksha continued its poor run.  After a slight jump in its collections on first Saturday and Sunday,  the film saw a fall in its earnings on the week days and managed to collect just Rs 10 cr in its opening week.

The  poor show by KhudaHaafiz2,  Hit The First Case and Shabaash Mithu continues the poor run of Bollywood films released in the past few months.

Barring The Kashmir Files,  Bhool Bhulaiya2 and, to an extent Jug Jugg Jeeyo,  most Hindi films released in cinemas over the past few months have witnessed a below average run.

These include biggies and much hyped films like Prithviraj,  Jersey,  Runway 34, Dhaakad,  Heropanti2 and Jayeshbhai Jordar.

Trade experts attribute the poor run of these films to a change in audience's cinema going habits during the Covid pandemic wherein they are now willing to go to the theatres only for a mass oriented film like Sooryavanshi.

Starring Taapsee Pannu in the lead role, Shabaash Mithu, directed by Srijit Mukherji and produced by Viacom18 Studios, is based on the life of the former Indian cricket team captain, Mithali Raj, who is considered one of the greatest female cricketers in the Indian squad.

The film chronicles the ups and downs and moments of glory in her life.

Directed by Shailesh Kolanu,  Hit The First Case is a murder mystery.

Vikram Jaisingh, a 32 years old police officer working for the homicide Intervention Team (HIT) of Rajasthan is battling with his own traumatic past. He gets advised by his well-wishers and his girlfriend, to take sabbatical and heal. But, when an 18 year old girl called Preethi goes mysteriously missing on the ring road of Jaipur, Vikram realizes that the case has a personal connection and he has no other option but to step in and find the girl, despite the investigation inducing panic attacks and anxiety at every stage.

Khuda Haafiz2,  released last week,  is sequel of the 2020 film Khuda Haafiz,  which was released on Disney Hotstar due to Covid.

Produced by Kumar Mangat Paathak, Abhishek Pathak, Surya Bimal Parekh and Ram Mirchandani and written and directed by Faruk Kabir , Khuda haafiz Chapter 2 Agni Pareeksha  stars Vidyut Jamwal and Shivaleeka Oberoi in lead roles.
