Success of Gadar 2 reaffirms standing of Sunny Deol as action hero

Continuing with its meteoric show at the box office,  Gadar 2 reached the Rs 300 cr mark in its first eight days itself,  setting the stage for another blockbuster run by a Bollywood film after Shahrukh Khan's Pathaan.

After collections of Rs 284 cr in its opening week,  the Sunny Deol Ameesha Patel starrer, a sequel to the 2001 superhit Gadar,  continued to draw crowds in its second week,  earning Rs 20 cr on its second Friday.

The film, directed by Anil Sharma,  has now reached the Rs 300 cr mark in eight days of its release,  setting a record at the box office.

Gadar2 is second Bollywood film to reach the figure of Rs 300 cr in the first eight days this year.

With the film continuing to draw crowds in theatres,  trade experts feel that it could well touch the Rs 500 cr mark in the coming weeks.

Directed by Anil Sharma and written by Shaktimaan,  Gadar2,  which stars Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma in the lead roles,  took a rocking start at the box office m earning Rs 230 cr in the extended Independence day weekend.

The film has witnessed excellent business at the single screen theatres across the country while good showing at the multiplexes.

The film has recorded outstanding collections at the mass centres like Delhi, Punjab,  Bihar and Uttar Pradesh

After the super success of Gadar  in 2001, the  magic of Tara Singh single handedly taking on the Pakistani establishment has once again set the box office on fire , drawing applause at the theatres across the country.

With the craze for the film unabated, Gadar 2 seems set to cross the Rs 500 cr mark in India.

The meteoric run by Gadar2 reflects the huge draw of Sunny Deol as an action hero.

Directed by Anil Sharma and written by Shaktimaan, Gadar2 is a sequel to the 2001 film Gadar. It features Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma who reprise their roles from the original film.

After Tara Singh goes missing during a skirmish on the border in 1971 and is believed to be imprisoned in Pakistan,Tara's son Charanjeet "Jeete" Singh goes to save him, but in the  process gets imprisoned and tortured by the Pakistan soldiers.  Learning about this after reuniting with Sakeena, Tara sets out to rescue Jeete from Hamid Iqbal and his men.
