Despite RRR (Hindi),The Kashmir Files continues to draw crowds,earns Rs 231 cr at end of third weekend

Despite an extraordinary business by RRR (Hindi), The Kashmir Files continues to draw audiences to the theatres in its third week with the collections of the film reaching Rs 230 cr at the end of its third Monday.

The Kashmir Files,  which crossed the figure of Rs 200 cr at the end of its second week,  held its own despite a formidable challenge posed by RRR (Hindi), earning Rs 21 cr in its third weekend .

It earned Rs 4.5 cr on its third Monday,  taking its total earnings till the end of its third Monday to Rs 231.38 cr.

The Kashmir Files  has been on a dream run at ghe box office since its release on March 11. Infact, its strong craze at the box office hit the collections of the Akshay Kumar Kriti Sanon starrer Bachchan Pandey,  which released in cinemas on March 18.

Though the release of the multilingual action thriller RRR affected its upwards climb at the box office , The Kashmir Files continues to draw crowds st theatres in its third week.

After crossing the milestone of Rs 200 cr , the filmmis now fast approaching the Rs 250 cr mark which could well be breached by ghe end of the third week. At this rate The Kashmir Files breaching the Rs 300 cr seems to be a distinct possibility.

Following its dream run, The Kashmir Files has  become the highest earner in India post the Covid pandemic,  surpassing the earnings of the Akshay Kumar Katrina kaif starrer Sooryavanshi.  Sooryavanshi has earned Rs 196 cr in India.

The film has done excellent business in Delhi , Uttar Pradesh and Punjab with a good showing in Gujarat and Mumbai.

Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, The Kashmir Files,  based on the exodus of Kashmiri pandits during the insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir , is a part of trilogy of films on various burning political events in the country.

Produced by Zee Studios and written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri, The Kashmir Files stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi in key roles.

The Kashmir Files is the second in the trilogy of films , beginning with The Tashkent Files, which was based in the mysterious death of former prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. The third in the trilogy is The Delhi Files, based in the anti Sikh riots of 1984.

It opened to mixed reviews in India.  Critics have praised the performance of Anupam kher in the film.

 It has been declared tax-free in Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
