Tadap does decent business at cinemas across India, earns Rs 4 cr on opening day

Tadap,  which marks the Bollywood debut of Suniel Shetty's son Ahan Shetty, had earnings of Rs 4.05 cr on its opening day on Friday,  surpassing the opening day figures of biggies like Satyameva Jayate 2 and Bunty Aur Babli2.

The film had a decent opening across India despite releasing on just over 1500 Cinema halls across India and in spite of a lesser known star cast. What is remarkable is that Tadap had better opening day figures In comparison to films like Satyameva Jayate 2 and Bunty Aur Babli 2, which featured a well known star cast.

While Satyameva Jayate 2 had opening day collections of Rs 3 cr, Bunty Aur Babli2 had earnings of Rs 2.5 cr on its opening day.

Directed by Milan Lutharia, Tadap stars Ahan Shetty in the lead opposite the beautiful Tara Sutaria.

Trade experts said that it is the youth oriented theme of the film,  coupled with a raw and intense portrayal by Ahan Shetty,  that has contributed to the decent opening of the film.

A large portion of the earnings of the film came from Delhi and UP. Theatres in non metro cities attracted a huge crowd of youth.

Infact, Tadap is one of the few films in recent years with a newcomer in the lead to get a above average opening at the box office.

The earnings of the film are expected to witness a jump on Saturday and Sunday.
