Was extremely scared and nervous before the scene of me slapping Shahid Kapoor in Jersey; Mrunal Thakur

Even as she gets accolades for her performance in the trailer of the much anticipated film Jersey,  actor Mrunal Thakur says that she was very scared before the scene of her slapping Bollywood heartthrob Shahid Kapoor in the film.

Speaking during the launch of the trailer of the film, a heart warming story of a cricketer who is looking to make a comeback to the sport after a gap of 16 years, Mrunal Thakur said that  having been a big fan of Shahid Kapoor,  it took her a lot of effort to enact the scene of her slapping the actor in the film.


Mrunal Thakur says that she was extremely nervous while slapping Shahid Kapoor in Jersey 



The trailer of Jersey,  unveiled last evening,  shows Mrunal Thakur slapping Shahid Kapoor in one of the scenes.

Recalling the shooting of the scene,  Mrunal Thakur said, 'slapping Shahid Kapoor in the film was extremely difficult. I was extremely scared before the scene. I  constantly  asked myself how can I slap Shahid.

Ultimately,  it took me a lot of effort for me to do it. It was extremely difficult scene for me. '

Mrunal plays the female lead in Jersey, which is the story of a cricketer looking to make a comeback to the sport after 16 years.

Mrunal Thakur said that the film is extremely close to her heart.

'Jersey is very special to my heart. It is film that is filled with emotion. The team has worked very hard and I am blessed to be a part of the film.

I can't wait for people to watch the movie. I wanted the film to come in the theatres where people can go with their families to watch the film and enjoy it.'

Written and directed by Gowtam Tinnannuri, Jersey is the story of Arjun Raichand, a thirty six year old cricketer who stopped his cricketing career ten years ago and is  now aiming to play for Indian team.

A remake of Gowtam Tinnannuri's 2019 Telugu film of the same title, Jersey stars Shahid Kapoor as Arjun Raichand while Mrinal Thakur features as his wife .

The film, which has been produced by Allu Aravind,  Aman Gill, Dil Raju and Suryadevara, also features Shahid Kapoor's father  Pankaj Kapur in a key role.

Shahid Kapoor has said that the role in Jersey is something that is close to his heart.

The actor has said that the shooting for the film was held amid the raging Covid pandemic.

The film was earlier scheduled to release in August last year  but it' was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Jersey marks Shahid Kapoor's return to the big screen after a long gap.  He was last seen in the film Kabir Singh,  released in 2019.
