New film Farhana creates buzz with story of woman working at call centre for survival in conservative set up

After the buzz around The Kerala story , which released last week, new film Farhana is grabbing eyeballs with its thought provoking story of a middle-class woman working at a call centre to ensure a survival for herself in a conservative set up.

Produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, Farhana is the story of a middle class woman taking up a call centre job to ensure  survival of her family.

While the job gives her the freedom,  it also exposes her to a web of dangers.

The film,which released  in  cinemas  on  May 12, provides nuanced and insightful look into experiences of not just Farhana, but women in general. 

Farhana, released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu,  has been  directed by Nelson Venkatesan, the director of two Tami superhits, 'Monster' and 'Oru Naal Koothu'.

Playing the  lead role in Farhana is Aishwarya Rajesh, who has earned a reputation as one of the most sought-after actresses of this generation.

However,  an unforeseen incident turns her life Topsy turns, incurring wrath of her husband.

The film has been produced by S R Prakash Babu and S R Prabu under the banner of Dream Warrior Pictures.

Farhana marks yet another milestone for Dream Warrior Pictures, with films like Joker, Dheeran, Adhigaram Ondru, Aruvi and Kaidhi and Bhola in Hindi under their belt.

With Bholaa, remake of their own Tamil blockbuster Kaidhi, the company  recently ventured into Bollywood as co-producers.

Besides Aishwarya Rajesh,  Farhana stars acclaimed director Selvaraghavan, Jithan Ramesh, Anumol and Aishwarya Dutta.

One of the major players in South Indian film industry, Dream Warrior Pictures has been producing significant stories for the silver screen.

With Bholaa, remake of their own Tamil blockbuster Kaidhi, the company  recently ventured into Bollywood as co-producers.

Earlier this week,  Dream Warrior Pictures released the trailer of Farhana.

After the release of the trailer,  the film stirred a controversy with some Muslim bodies alleged that it has dialogues that are insulting to Indian women.

In response to the controversy,  Dream Warrior Pictures clarified that the  film is not against any religion nor does it intend to hurt sentiments of any community.

'Our aim is only to provide good movies and we never vouch for contents that are against a particular religious sentiments and beliefs,'it said.

The producers feel that Farhana will be a refreshing addition to women-centric movies.

They feel that It will provide a nuanced and insightful look into the experiences of not just Farhana, but women in general. 

'With a compelling story that centres around strongly-etched characters, the movie will be a must watch for anyone who loves good cinema,'they said.
