She may have got acclaim from audiences as well as critics for her romantic portrayals in several films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Hum Tum, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and Chalte Chalte but actress Rani Mukherjee says that she was extremely nervous while romancing Aamir Khan in Ghulam, her first  commercial success.

Rani Mukherjee says that she was extremely nervous romancing Aamir Khan in Ghulam

Speaking during promotions of her film Bunty Aur Babli2 on the Kapil Sharma show on Sony entertainment television,  Rani Mukherjee said, 'I had grown up watching Aamir Khan's Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. So, I was extremely nervous during romantic scenes with Aamir Khan in Ghulam. I was so nervous during the romantic scenes with him that instead of looking into his eyes, I kept on looking at his feet instead.

I was afraid that if I look into Aamir Khan's eyes  I would fall in love with him.'

Sensing her discomfort, Aamir took her aside and asked her not to be nervous.

He told her that the scene was a requirement of the story and  tried to make her feel comfortable

'Aamir tought me how to be at ease in such scenes.  It helped me shed my nervousness during such scenes, 'Rani Mukherjee said.

Released in 1998, Ghulam directed by Vikram Bhatt, starred Aamir Khan and Rani Mukherjee in lead roles.

Infact,  Ghulam was Rani Mukherjee's first commercial success. She went on to star in other successful films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Bichhoo, Hey Ram and Chori Chori Chupke Chupke.

Besides her pairing with Aamir Khan,  the song Aati Kya Khandala won her a lot of attention

Rani Mukherjee will soon be seen in Bunty Aur Babli2 , a sequel to the 2005 film Bunty Aur Babli , which featured her alongside Abhishek Bachchan.

Bunty Aur Babli2 will see Saif Ali Khan step in the shoes of Abhishek Bachchan. It will also feature Sidhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh as the new generation of Bunty and Babli.

Bunty Aur Babli2 will see Vimmy Saluja and Rakesh Trivedi,  the original Bunty and Babli played by Rani Mukherjee and Saif Ali Khan in the new film, vie with two next generation con artists, Siddhant Chaturvedi and newcomer Sharvari .

Bunty Aur Babli2 is being directed by debutant Varun Sharma and produced by Aditya Chopra.

The original Bunty Aur Babli,  released in 2005, was directed by Shaad Ali and featured Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee as Raj
Kesh Trivedi and Vimmy Saluja, who indulge in a con job under the pseudonym of Bunty and Babli.

The film also featured Amitabh Bachchan as a police officer who is on a hunt for the fraudsters. The film created a lot of buzz for the performances of Abhishek Bachchan , Rani Mukherjee and Amitabh Bachchan.

It also generated buzz for its chartbuster music,  especially the song Kajra Re picturised on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Over the years,  Bunty Aur Babli has become an iconic film in the history of Bollywood.
