By Rajesh Ahuja
As she awaits the launch of her new show Baal Shiv, a story of the child avatar of Lord Shiva, television and film actress Mouli Ganguly said that Gurukul system is the epitome of Indian system of learning.
Ahead of the launch of the show, Mouli Ganguly, who plays the role of Mahasati Anusuya, who is the headmistress of the Gurukul set up to impart teaching to children of the Dev Lok, praised the Gurukul system of education.
Mouli Ganguly says that Gurukul system is epitome of Indian style of learning |
On the occasion of National Education Day, Mouli Ganguly said ,'the education system has evolved a lot from the ancient learning style to digital classroom learning today. In the Gurukul system, students would reside at their Guru's place to learn all the skillsets and gain a wide knowledge on various subject matters ranging from Vedas, nature, medicines to warfare, history, philosophy, and other competencies to deal with real-life problems.
Also, the bond between the Guru and Shishya was stronger, which aided in disciplining the disciple. Self-realization was the core of this style of education and was considered a unique way of learning. In 'Baal Shiv' I essay Mahasati Anusuya's character, the headmistress of the Gurukul. This learning system adopted a unique approach towards education as it focused on the holistic development of the students. The Gurus would not only equip their students with academics but guide them to become fine human beings equipped with all worldly knowledge and requisite skills."
Shedding light on education's significance, Mouli said,' education is the strongest weapon for humankind to fight against all life problems and shape their future. It is one of the best gifts we can give to our children. '
The National Education Day commemorates the birth anniversary of India's first education minister APJ Abdul Kalam, a renowned educationalist who played a crucial role in shaping the education system in India.
Baal Shiv' is set to premiere on &TV starting November 23, every Monday to Friday at 8:00 pm.
While there have been several fascinating shows on Lord Shiva and his various roops, one story that has not been shown before on Indian television is the story of his Baal Roop.
Aptly positioned Mahadev Ki Undekhi Gatha, the show will depict the mythical Katha of the mother and son, Mahasati Anusuya and Baal Shiv, and their eternal bond.
Considered Infinite and the Unborn, Lord Shiva had taken many avatars, but he had never experienced childhood and mother's love. However, post his marriage with Devi Parvati, Mahadev takes the form of a child to fulfil Devi Parvati's wish and becomes the dutiful son of Mahasati Anusuya.
Produced by Zee Studios, Baal Shiv features a stellar cast including Aan Tiwari ( as Baal Shiv), Mouli Ganguly (as Mahasati Anusuya), Siddharth Arora (as Mahadev), Shivya Pathania ( as Devi Parvati), Krrip Kapur Suri (as Asur Andhak), Praneet Bhatt (as Narad Muni), Danish Akhtar Saifi (as Nandi), Dakssh Ajit Singh (as Indra), Anjita Poonia (as Indrani), Ravi Khanvilkar (as Archarya Dandpani), Pallavi Pradhan (as Maina Devi), amongst others.
