Projecting mindset of Javed in Aazam was fun: Jimmy Shergill

He has established a niche for himself as an actor who thrives in assaying challenging characters on screen.

Jimmy Shergill, who has assaysed several memorable characters during his nearly three decade long career in Hindi and Punjabi films,  from Raja Awasthi in Tanu Weds Manu, the crafty Aditya Pratap Singh in  Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster series,  the embattled police officer in Collar Bomb and the principled judge in Your Honour, will now be seen in a pivotal role in the action thriller Aazam, which releases in cinemas on May 26.

Jimmy Shergill,  who plays an associate of an Underworld Don in Aazam,  grabbed attention in the Trailer of the film for his impressive style.

Directed by Shravan Tiwari and produced by Altair media and BMX Motion Pictures,  Aazam , set in the underbelly of the Mumbai underworld,  deals with the succession battle of mafia don Nawab Khan (Raza Murad) , who is suffering from blood cancer and has only a few days to survive.

Nawab Khan rules the city with the help of a syndicate of 5 partners.  Nawab's son Kader(Abhimanyu Singh) is the legitimate heir in his business. On the advice of his friend Javed, Kader conspires to eliminate his father's associates.

The trailer of the film,  released recently,  shows Javed(Jimmy Shergill)as a crafty player who manipulates the son of the underworld don to tilt the balance of power in his favour.

In Delhi for the promotion of the film,  Jimmy Shergill said projecting the mindset and mood of the character was a lot of fun.

"In the film, I am playing the role of Javed, who is closest to the most powerful don of the city, Nawab Khan.

I had a lot of fun projecting the mindset and mood of this character on screen,'he said,'Jimmy Shergill said.

Jimmy said it was the brilliance of the script that led him to take up the film.

'The script by Shravan Tiwari is brilliant,'he said,

Jimmy Shergill was last seen in the web series Your Honour,  streaming on Sony Liv.

Besides Jimmy Shergill,  Aazam stars Abhimanyu Singh ,  Indraneil Sengupta , Vivek Ghamande, Govind Namdev, Raza Murad, Sayaji Rao Shinde, Ali Khan, Anang Desai, Shishir Sharma, Sanjeev Tyagi and Mushtaq Khan in strong roles.

Earlier scheduled to release in cinemas on May 19, the film will now hit screens on May 26.
