I was on lookout for a show where I get to do something different; Rohit Purohit

He is still ensconced in the memory of viewers as the fiery, charismatic and aggressive Greek ruler Alexander in the period drama Porus,, telecast on Sony entertainment television in 2018.

After playing a variety of in historical dramas on the small screen,  namely Bhadrasaal in Chandragupta Maurya on Sony entertainment television,  Karan in the period drama Har Yug Main Aayega Ek Arjun on Star Plus, Malik Altunia in Razia Sultan on &TV,  Dara Shikoh in the TV series Bharatvarsh on ABP news and Alexander in Porus on Sony TV, Rohit Purohit  will now be seen in the medical drama Dhadkan; Zindaggi Kii,  the story of a woman challenging patriarchy in society and workplace to pursue her dreams and career in a male-dominated profession.

In Dhadkan; Zindaggii Kii,  which marks the comeback of Rohit Purohit to television after an over two year gap, the actor plays the role of Dr Vikrant Saxena,  who is in a relationship with the protagonist Deepika Sinha.

The actor says that after doing several historical characters, he is happy to do something different.

'After doing a lot of historical shows on the small screen,  I was on the lookout to do something different . When I heard the story and the script of Dhadkan; Zindaggii Kii,  it seemed different from anything that I have done before, 'Rohit said in a chat.

Rohit said that he is fortunate to have got an opportunity to do a show that is unique and unlike any show that has been done on television before.

'Dhadkan; Zindaggii Kii is a show that puts across a strong message  against discrimination of women in society and at the workplace .I feel that the show will be an eye opener for society about the discrimination against women at home and at the workplace.  I am sure it will bring about a change in mindset of people. It will make them introspdct about the treatment being meted out to women,''Rohit said.

On comparisons with medical dramas like Sanjeevni,  Rohit said, 'while it us tre that Dhadkan; Zindaggii Kii is a show that is set in the backdrop of the medical profession.  However,  the medical profession is just a backdrop.

Rather, at basic level,  the show is about the discrimination against women in society and workplace and the challenges faced by them while pursuing their dreams and car.'

Rohit says that playing the character of Dr Vikrant Saxena required a lot of preparation like mastering the various medical terms used in the show.

'Mastering the various medical terms used by doctors in the show was quite an effort, 'he said.

On his character,  Rohit said that the graph of the character sees a constant change as the show progresses.

'When the show begins,  Vikrant Saxena is seen to have a  certain mindset towards women pursuing their career and dreams.  However,  as the show progresses kne sees a change in his mindset,'he said.

Rohit,  who made his debut on television with Shaurya Aur Suhani in 2009, has  worked in shows like Adaalat, Sanskaar Laxmi,, Chandragupta Maurya,  Arjun, Razia Sultan,  Bharatvarsh and Porus.

He was last seen in the show Dil Toh Happy Hai Jee, aired on Star Plus in 2019.

He won Lot of acclaim for his performance as Greek ruler Alexander in the period drama Porus,  aired on Sony entertainment television in 2018.


Being aired at 10 pm from Monday to Friday every week on Sony entertainment television,  Dhadkan; Zindaggi Kii  traces the journey of Deepika,  a woman who challenges patriarchy in her family,  society and at her workplace to pursue a career in a  male-dominated profession.

Dhadkan; Zindaggi Kii stars television actress Additi Gupta in the role of Deepika. 

Dhadkan; Zindaggi Kii also features Nishanth Singh and Raghav Dhir in key roles.

Set in a hospital,  Dhadkan; Zindaggii Kii tells the story of Deepika who faces gender discrimination and stereotypes at the workplace and society.

The series will show Deepika struggle to sustain her position of the chief at a hospital despite being the best doctor.
