Inside Edge 3 is an edge of the seat thriller that takes viewers into murkier secrets in match fixing in cricket |
A fictional story of the malaise of corruption and match fixing plaguing the world of cricket, Inside Edge deals with various illegal acts perpetrated by people like Vikrant Dhawan(Vivek Oberoi) and Bhaisaab (Aamir Bashir) to run their betting operations. While Season 1 saw Vikrant Dhawan indulge in a naked display of money and power in pursuance of his goal of fixing matches in the PPL(people's power league), Season 2 saw bhaisaab operating his match fixing syndicate while being on the position of chief of the Indian Cricket Board.
Season 3 takes viewers nto murkier secrets in the world of match fixing in cricket. Season 3 shows a no holds barred war between Vikrant Dhawan and Bhaisaab in their bid to hold control over the netting and match fixing operations. Vikrant is out to take revenge over Bhaisaab 's attempts to kill him .
Amid the confrontation between the two , Bhaisaab's daughter Mantra (Sapna Pabbi) is engaged in an effort to legalize the betting operation, an initiative which brings her at loggerheads with the people running such operations, including her father and Dhawan. Will she succeed in her endeavour in face of obstacles put in place by the stakeholders of these activities forms the narrative of the Season 3.
Like the previous seasons, director Kanishk Verma and creator Karan Anshuman maintain the thrill level in the proceedings with surprising twists and turns at regular junctures. In fact the thrill levels are a notch above the season 2.
Adding to the thrills levels in Season 3 is the carrying out of match fixing operations on the cricketing tests between arch rivals India and Pakistan, considered the mother of all battles as far as people of both countries are concerned.
Vivek Oberoi again impresses as Vikrant Dhawan who has embarked on a no holds barred war against bhaisaab to end his hegemony on the business of match fixing. Aamir Bashir is effective as bhaisaab who is desparately trying to retain his control on the betting business while agonizing over alienation of his daughter from him.
Tanuj Virwani comes up with a spirited act as Vayu Raghwan. Akshay Oberoi is quite effective as Rohit Shanbagh who is desperate to retain his position as captain of the Indian Cricket Team.
Sunny Hinduja also impresses in a brief role as the Pakistani skipper.
Sayani Gupta impresses as Rohini who is trying to clear her father Vijay Subramanium's name from the match fixing charges against him. Sapna Pabbi is brilliant as Mantra Patil who is pulling out all stops for legalising betting in cricket. She comes across as endearing.
Renuka Shahane springs a pleasant surprise with her brief appearance as the Indian Prime Minister.
The rest of the cast, including Dilip Tahil,Richa Chadha, Amit Sial and Ankur Rathi lend adequate support.
In short inside edge 3 is another gripping and edge of the seat thriller which takes us into darkier and murkier world of betting and match fixing in Indian cricket.
